Italo Train Rome - Milan
Hey guys, whats up. Im writing about a really cool experience I had on board an Italo train from Rome to Milan. I know most people get through Europe in a train like this, but I have never been on one. This was my first experience on the european bullet trains. We start our our fantastic hotel in Rome, the Casa Montani, and catch a taxi to Rome Termini Station. The taxi driver was insane! We literally almost rear ended several other cars. We got to the station which was grand just like an airport terminal. We just hung out for a few minutes waiting for our track to show up on the outgoing board.

We had bought our tickets in advance so it was very hassle free. The tracks were open air and frankly, a little crazy. There were hundreds of people at a time boarding over a dozen trains. We made it to our track and I saw the magnificent bullet train. It was surprisingly very elegant. We board in the second car, 'Business Class'.

It was very nice, seats were laid out in a 1-2 layout. In the entrance corridor, there were a few racks for oversize luggage, as well as a bathroom and automatic sliding glass doors to the cabin. It was very sleek and modern, unlike some of the train that run on Amtrak. I took one of the single seats and it was very comfortable.

Decent recline, large tray table, along with ample storage space for bags on the above rack. I could fit my large, 40+ lbs suitcase on top very comfortably. It is also to note that there are vending machines on board.

Once we speeded out of Rome, the cabin attendants came around and passed put snacks. I choose a pineapple juice as well as some delicious italian cookies. The service was pretty efficient, but not the friendliest. Soon after snacks were served, we got our first glimpse of the beautiful Tuscany region. It was truly beautiful. In fact, the reason we took the 3+ hour train to Milan instead of flying to Malpensa, was because we wanted to see the amazing views of the italian country side. It was definitely worth it.

We made several stops on the way up north in Florence, Bologna, and Milan Cadorna station before finally arriving at Milano Porta Garibali. It was cool to see a bit of these cities from the train, as we did not get to go there on this trip. The whole time I had a chance to do some work, the train also provided wifi. It was pretty good at 9.65 upload and 1.15 download, I could almost stream netflix. We eventually arrived in Milan at around four in the afternoon and caught our car to Lago Di Como. Stay tuned, thanks so much for reading. - Sam
